Past, Present, Future
Bobby Neel Adams
The images above are all the same photoshopped and taken in the same style. The image consists of a face made up of two different pictures. The two different pictures are the same person but old and young. These photos are halved and put together to make one over all face that shows the person being both old and young. This is to show the effect of time and how the people have changed over time.
Bobby Neel Adams Inspired
The image below is a photo of a women now and a different photo of the same women when she was younger merged. I did this on photoshop using the mask feature to edit the photos so they are perfectly matched and in line so it looks more realistic and effective. I think it is effective as it shows how she has changed over time as well as show the features that have stayed similar over the years.

Taylor Jones
This image is of a picture taken in the past of what looks like two brothers and a sister standing outside next to the stairs out side their house. That same house is in the background of the image Taylor Jones took. The old photograph is placed as it is to fit the background. As you can see the steps from the house as well as the windows in the old picture match up perfectly with the house now. This image creates an emotional atmosphere as it is a reminder of the past and how people grow up and things change.

The image above is again of a photograph taken in the past compared and lined up with the house and surroundings of that area in the present. The old photograph is of a young boy in a suit in his garden outside his house. The image in the background is that same house but what it looks like now. This is very effective as you can see how things have evolved and changed with time. An example of this are the trees then compared to how they are now. It is clear that a lot of time has passed since the photograph was taken as the trees in the background have grown immensely. This highlights the effect of time and creates an emotional atmosphere as it makes the viewers reminisce about the past.

The image on the left is of the same location but one photograph was taken in the past and Taylor jones lines that photograph up with what the location looks like now. This is an effective image as the old image shows a mother and her daughter in the park. This creates an emotional atmosphere as it suggests the relationship between the mother and the daughter as well as the childhood of the little girl.

First Response
The images below are the photos I took in response to Taylor Jones. I found old images of my school in black and white and placed them in a way that matches the same location in the present. These are effective as the old images have people in them which shows the way people lived and acted in the same school in the past.
Chosen Images
I chose these images as they line up the best therefore are most effective.
Second Response
The images below are my second response to Taylor Jones' photography. I took them in camden as I found interesting images taken in the past that would be effective as they show the development of camden and how different it used to be compared to now.
Most successful images
The images below are my chosen images because the buildings lined up very well and they are effective as they show the changes that have occurred throughout time in Camden. In the second image you can see an EE shop at the bottom floor of the old building. This shows the contrast between old and new buildings.

Irena Werning
Irena Werning is known for her incredibly accurate reenactment images where she takes a photo of people in the same clothes, locations and positions as an old photo from their childhood and puts them together to express the time that has gone by.
The picture on the left is of a young girl wearing a white t-shirt and brown boots that are very big for her. She is looking out into the distance and in the background there are bushes and trees on a pebbled, beige ground. The image on the right is a reenactment of the image on the left. It is the same girl in the same position and location wearing a white t-shirt and what looks like the same boots. This is effective as the boots now fit her perfectly which emphasises the time that went by as she grew into them.
|
The image on the left is of a young girl with a straw in her mouth in what looks like a kitchen. The same image is reenacted on the right with the same girl but older. She is wearing a white top that is very similar to the one she was wearing when she was younger. In both images the girl is looking to the right which makes the reenactment more accurate. we can see that she is in the exact same location as in the old photo as the tiles in the background are the same colour and shapes.
|
The image on the right is a combination of an old photograph of three young girls in dresses compared to a reenactment photo taken a lot later. The three girls in the photo on the left are standing in a pyramid like position wearing floral print dresses. The image on the right is a perfect reenactment. The same girls were photographed in dresses that look very similar to the ones they were wearing when they were younger. They are all looking in the same place and are sitting in the same position as in the old photograph. This image is effective as its showing possibly three sisters growing up together and how time changed them. Both images being black and white ads to the effect as it makes the reenactment more powerful & accurate.

First response
The images are below are my responses to Irena Werning's work. I took pictures of old images of my friend when she was younger and then chose clothes for her to wear that will match what she was wearing in the old photos. I also told her to pose in a way that will match the old image to make it more effective and accurate. I tried to get the right angle so it looks like a more accurate reenactment but I found that very hard. I also tried getting a similar background to make it more affective.
Chosen images
This was my favourite reenactment picture I did as I thought it was very effective and accurate. She's wearing very similar clothes of the same colour as when she was younger and is in the same position doing the same pose. I also think the angle was very similar to the one in the old image and the I took this photo where is was actually taken 11 years ago.
Old and New
First Response
The images below are of old and new buildings. They are taken in my school as there are very old looking buildings as well as more modern ones and I wanted to show the contrast between the two.
Second Response
The images below are taken in oxford street and they are again of modern buildings in contrast with older looking buildings.

Artist Analysis: Anastasia Savinova
The images below are by Anastasia Savinova. She took pictures of different types of houses and used parts of her images to create a large house/building made up of windows and doors from all different houses. This makes a very interesting image as the houses look unusual and unique. She inspired me to do the same and I took images of houses in different countries to create variety in my images.
My chosen images
I took these images in Romania when I was on holiday. They are of houses that I thought looked interesting and had potential to be turned into my final pieces.. I will use part of these houses to create a larger building on photoshop made up of different windows and doors inspired by Anastasia Savinova. I will be cropping out and selecting parts of these houses, distorting them in order to make them look more realistic, increasing the contrast to make them look more eye-catching, and putting them together to create my final pieces.
